A Step to Independence is now accepting new student applications and returning student registrations for all sessions:

New student application process

1. Students that are new to ASTI must complete and return a “New Student Application” along with a non-refundable application processing fee of $25. The “New Student Application” is the first step in determining whether or not Conductive Education is appropriate for the child. Not all children can benefit from Conductive Education. You can download the most recent New Student Application by clicking the link in this sentence. Once completed you may email or mail it to A Step to Independence. Returning students can access the Returning Student Application here. (Returning students are not required to pay an application fee or be re-assessed.)

2. Once the application and fee are received, the application will be reviewed by the Peto-assigned Conductor/Program Director. If the application is accepted, a “New Student Assessment” will be arranged. Assessments are required for all new students and can be scheduled in-person or by requesting the “Guidelines for Video Assessment”. There is a $100 fee for new student assessments, whether performed in-person or by submitting a video of your child. Assessments are critical to determining whether or not the child is a candidate for Conductive Education. Further, Assessments ensure that all children accepted to the program are placed in the most appropriate group, program, and/or session.

3. Children accepted by ASTI will then be scheduled for the appropriate session. A Child’s “seat” in a session is not confirmed until all required documentation is received along with the session deposit of $500.
