Press Release: The ASTI - CLC Connection!
Bringing world-class Conductive Education and the most elite Conductors in the world to the Southeastern United States!
After 5 years of successful operation, A Step to Independence (ASTI) is pleased to announce that it has entered into a collaborative agreement with The Conductive Learning Center (CLC) of Grand Rapids , MI . As a result of this agreement, ASTI will collaborate with The CLC to bring the highest-quality Conductive Education to the Southeastern United States . The information below will help clarify this exciting development:
The International Peto Institute (IPI) is the original provider of Conductive Education. Opened by Dr. Andreas Peto, it continues to offer Conductive Education services and grant the highly-esteemed “Conductor” credential. The IPI is widely-regarded as the international leader in Conductive Education services, Conductor-training, and relevant research. Although the IPI supervises multiple programs world-wide, the CLC is the only program currently supervised by the IPI in the United States .
For 12 years, The CLC has been the “Gold-Standard” for Conductive Education in the United States . The CLC was originally formed as a laboratory Conductive Education program for the K-12 POHI major at Aquinas College in Grand Rapids . The K-12 POHI major is the only college program in the United States offering dual certification as a Special Education teacher for K-12 and certification as a Conductor from the IPI. The CLC is the only Conductive Education program in the United States that is directly supervised by the International Peto Institute for uncompromising quality and strict adherence to the Peto model of Conductive Education. Additionally, it is the only program that has consistently employed a Peto-assigned Program Director. For these reasons, The CLC has been considered the preeminent provider of Conductive Education in the United States . ASTI is pleased to announce our collaboration with this outstanding organization, as we are committed to extending the same high-quality Conductive Education to students in the Southeastern United States .
ASTI has always held itself and its Conductors to the highest standards and beginning June 8th, 2009, all programs offered by ASTI will be monitored by the CLC for quality and adherence to the principles of Conductive Education according to the Peto model. As part of this exciting agreement, all sessions and services offered by ASTI will be delivered by Conductors trained and currently employed by the CLC and/or IPI. As teaching facilities, both the CLC and IPI are extremely selective in their employment of Conductors. Staff Conductor positions with the CLC and IPI are highly-competitive and are prized positions by Conductors. Because these Conductors routinely work in teams and in laboratory settings training student Conductors, ASTI parents will be assured that every Conductor is highly-trained and current in his/her knowledge and practice of Conductive Education. Quite simply, ASTI has been recognized by the leading authority for Conductive Education in the United States, by being granted status as a collaborative partner to the CLC. Through this agreement, ASTI families will have access the most elite and highly-skilled Conductors in the world. ASTI believes children deserve nothing less.
In addition to providing the highest quality Conductive Education to students, ASTI will collaborate with The CLC to:
- Expand Conductive Education in the United States with strict adherence to the Peto model
- Promote scholarly research and scientific validation of Conductive Education
- Advocate for the inclusion of Conductive Education in state-sponsored early intervention programs
- Promote the expansion of undergraduate/graduate, Peto-approved Conductor Degree granting programs in the United States
